MY ROAD TO LIFE COACHING

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT JIM...

People become life coaches for many reasons. Perhaps their path centered around working through their own issues or they just had a need to help others. I started Jim Stern Coaching because I worked through many changes and challenges throughout my life, and now I want to help others work through their own ups and downs.

Truth be told, life coaching is my fourth career, having worked in education, media, and business for over 30 years. When I look back on my own journey, each move made logical sense. So, my attitude towards change is extremely positive. In fact, it is change that creates a lot of anxiety and stress for so many, but from my experience, I feel it represents opportunity. So, navigating change is a key area where I help people. I also provide guidance when people just feel stuck! I help people find purpose, resolve conflict and work/career issues, improve their relationships, overcome painful thoughts and imposture syndrome.

My style is honest, relaxed, caring and engaging. My hope is to put you at ease no matter what life issues you are facing. Using mind/body tools where and when appropriate, my approach is quite simple: to meet you where you are and guide you to where you want to go or to who you want to be.

THE SPECIFICS

Working over 30 years in education, media and business combined with, driving 4 times across the country, living over 2 years outside the US, backpacking around the world pre internet, and raising 3 amazing kids has certainly given me the experience that no degree or credential can give you! However, You might still be wondering about the specifics on my work history and credentials that have led me to where I am today. I feel it is important for you to be totally comfortable with who I am and my background before we work together.

As a young professional and a freshly minted assistant professor, I got into coaching because I was dealing with reduced self-esteem and an impostor syndrome caused by the transition to a new job and other life changes. Having moved to the United States from a different continent about six years ago, I still needed guidance to navigate specific cultural differences or dating practices. Jim explained the benefits of coaching and guided me through an almost one-year-long journey of self-work, aiming to help me find my purpose, build confidence in all aspects of my life, troubleshoot work-related problems, and take action and strategize, both in my professional and my personal life. Jim made great use of various coaching techniques and exercises that allowed me to cut through the noise, get rid of fears, go after what I wanted, and focus on my essential Self. As a result, Jim not only helped me achieve my objectives and solve problems, but he also pushed me to imagine a better life and overcome limiting self-beliefs. I am grateful for this experience and am very confident that his guidance will continue to impact my life in the future.

I was in need of understanding and clarifying specific life issues that had me stuck and Jim Stern provided me with the guidance and clarity to move forward. His capacity to listen and see the issues with insight was particularly helpful. He provided me with new ways of thinking and got me back on the path of meaning and purpose. Once there, I moved forward again feeling connected and engaged to work and life. Work with Jim and find this meaning and purpose for yourself. You won’t regret it.

I had the fortunate experience of hopping into your Uber yesterday morning. I was the web developer coming to grips with turning 30.

I wanted to express my gratitude to you and the coin you’ve given me. I don’t think you’ll ever fully understand the impact that your simple gesture has had in shifting my perspective.

Such a perfect talisman for staying grounded and warding off the negativity which often invades my thinking.

It’s already helped me re-center myself during multiple situations, and it’s only been 40 hours!

I genuinely appreciate you and others like you who promote positivity. It’s too easy to get caught up in the inconsequential pettiness of modern life. Peace!
