A Review: The Kirkland Tap & Trotter

Several of my passengers have mentioned I should try this place out… the chef owner is Tony Maws of “Craigie on Main” fame.  So I met one of my daughters there to try out their brunch.

The menu is not vast but, quite interesting:

ENTRÉES
Mushroom & Reggiano Frittata (v)
cured sea trout & herb salad, grilled focaccia  16
Housemade Semolina Spaghetti (v) ham ragoût, spring peas, poached egg  16
KT&T Hot Dog Hash soft-poached egg, hollandaise  15
Brioche French Toast (v) warm banana compote  16
House-Smoked Salmon Rillettes garden pickle, trout roe, everything bagel  16
Turkish Breakfast (v) eggplant and chickpea stew, grilled vegetables, fried egg  15
Heuvos Rancheros black beans, KT&T breakfast sausage, grilled avocado, red and green chile sauce  14

OK so a little pricey but the 2 items I tasted were quite good.  The Frittata (how can you screw that up, right?) and the Hot Dog Hash.  From what I saw being served at other tables looked equally as good.  The place which is quite informal… and a bit funky was filled with lots of young families… everyone seemed happy.  There is also some family style tables where you can sit and share your meal and conversation with strangers… I like that option and I like this place… Yes I would go back!
